D.Y. Patil College OF Engineering and Polytechnic,Talsande which has successfully started on 29/6/2009 year and has emerged as one of the best Polytechnics (Non-Government-Non-Aided) in Maharashtra State. This achievement was possible because of the sincere and hardworking staff and efficient policy decisions of the management under the able guidance of Chancellor Sanjay D. Patil, Chairman of this institute.

Honourable Padmashree D.Y. Patil has a burning desire to spread education to the common-man of this country for his up-liftments and progress. He has exceptional foresight for bringing intellectual awakening and transformation in social, educational, economical cultural field of rural Maharashtra.

D. Y. Patil Education Society, Our Sanstha which started as a small educational trust 25 years back, has grown into a giant educational institutions covering almost all faculties of education spreading all over Maharashtra state as well as Abroad. This Education Society has opened 156 institutions right from pre-primary to post graduate level covering various faculties like arts, Physics Education, Commerce, Social Science, Engineering, Pharmacy and Medical Sciences. The Society is like a joint family of about 90000 students and about 6000 highly educated and skilled staff. Our founder, Padmashree Dr. D.Y. Patil insists on good quality of education, discipline and welfare of the students and the staff. He has announced free medical help to 20% patients, in rural area and free ship to deserving and poor students.

All these institutions are provided with highly qualified and well trained staff, well equipped laboratories Wi-Fi, good specious libraries, playgrounds, canteens and buses for students and staff. There are always excellent results in their examinations and other developmental activities. It is an ardent desire and profound endeavour of our founder to devote more attention to Women’s Educations and to preserve cultural heritage like music, drama, painting and other arts and see that it is achieved. This Institute is also a new baby institute starting from this academic year.

Dr. D. Y. Patil Education Society

The society has been established in 1984 and working through various educational institutes. Institutes working at Talsande Farm:

1. Krishi Vidnyan Kendra (Agriculture Science Center)

KVK has been established in 1994. Since then it is working for the farmers for transfer of technology from lab to land. Through organization of Farmer’s Rallies, Field Demonstrations & Campaigns, farmers are trained for advanced technologies in Agriculture. Special Training Camps are organized for women self-employment. Seed and fertilizer distribution to the farmers is also a major programmer under taken by KVK

2. Krishi Tantra Vidyalaya (Agricultural School)

Since 2000-2001 about 120 students every year are taking education in this Institute. After Completion of studies students are engaged in self employment, in small scale industries and in government and private sectors related to Agriculture. Further degree courses are also offered to diploma holder students through distance education of Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University study center at Talsande Farm. Nursery and Vermicompost projects are run by students of Krishi Tantra Vidyalaya with the help of KVK and getting benefits of practical experience.

3. Pad. Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Agriculture Engineering and Technology

Agriculture Engineering is an integral part of Modern Agriculture. Agriculture continues to contribute about 25 % of national income and remains a major sector that employs 60% of the labor force in rural India. A major challenge in agriculture is technological developments that are within the reach of farmers’ limited resources. The challenge can be faced through education research and extension of Agriculture Engineering. Agriculture Engineering is combination of all basic engineering disciplines with its orientation towards Agriculture. The scope of Agriculture Engineering is wide, covering, diversified fields as Farm Irrigation, Pumping Machines, Drainage, Farm Building & Structures, Environmental Engg. & Rural Electrification. Pad. Dr. D.Y. Patil College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology commits for pursuing excellence in technical education of Agriculture.

Career in Agricultural Engineering

Career in Agricultural Engineering

Agricultural Engineering is the dicipline of Engineering in Agriculture, food and biological systems. Ahricultural Engineers develop engineering Science and technology in the context of agricultural production and processing, and for the management of natural resources. They apply their engineering knowledge and skills to solve problems relating to sustainable agricultural production.

Role of Agricultural Engineers
Agricultural Engineers are trained to deal with soil, water, crop and engineering principles applications to agriculture. They provide inputs for mechanization of agriculture, conservation of produce and by products, minimization of losses, value addition and agro-processing enterprises for additional income and employment generation, energy management in agriculture and rural living. They act as knowledge binding agents betweeen traditional agriculturist and engineers because of their knowledge in the field of farm machinery and power, dairy and food processing and agricultural structure; land and water management engineering, energy and aquaculture.
Career Opportunities for Agricultural Engineers
There is tremendous scope for qualified engineers having professional degrees in agricultural engineering. Agricultual engineers work in production, sales, management, research and development, or applied science in agriculture. A large number of agricultural engineers work in academia or for research and developmental activities in private and government agencies such as Central and State Agricultural Universities (SAUs), Indian Council of Agricultural Research in various states at different cpapacities.
Opportunities with UG Degree
Agricultural Engineers with UG degree have job opportunities in private and Government sectors include tractor industires for sales, R & D and management; Irrigation equipment companies for sales, R & D and maintenance; Dairy and Food industries for quality control, R & D, and maintenance of processing machineries; Computer development; Instrumentation for automation and control; Consultants to many organizations; Agri-clinic, agribusiness; and NGOs. The Government sectors include field executives and engineers, training assistants and organizers in areas of mechanization of agriculture, irrigation, drainage, soil and water conservation engineering, command area development, watershed management, rural development; and also in SAUs, ICAR, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), Universities, Colleges and other organizations for teaching, research & development, extensions and other scientific and technical jobs. Nationalized banks also, recruit Agricultural Engineers for agriculture officers and managerial and managerial level posts.
